  • Cranstons Quality Butchers

    Purveyors of fine foods and meats since 1914, this family run butchers is renowned throughout Cumbria for its superior quality and support of local farmers. Just a few of their awards; Winner of the "Countryside Alliance Best Rural Retailer In The North West", "Best North West Product" at the Q Guild Barbecue Competition, "Best Cumberland Sausage" at the North West Food Producer of the Year & winner of four awards - Gold, two Silvers & a Bronze at the Guild of Q Butchers 2005 Smithfield Awards.

  • The Old Smokehouse

    With 22 Great Taste Awards in the last few years, eight of which were won in 2005, The Old Smokehouse is one of the finest smokehouses in the UK.

    Situated deep within the walls of 14th century Brougham Hall, the foods are hand smoked and brined in their own recipes of herbs and spices, and then either cold smoked or smoke roasted over oak in the traditional manner.

    There is no doubting the quality as Harvey Nichols and Fortnum & Mason stock their products, even more so as they privately smoke for H.R.H. the Prince of Wales.

  • Thornby Moor Dairy

    Starting out many years ago with four pet goats, which turned into a herd of twenty-six, Carolyn Fairbairn has built Thornby Moor into a multi-award winning dairy using unpasteurised milk to create a range of prize cheeses.

    Milk from the original herd of goats goes into "Allerdale" which claimed a previous British Cheese Awards "Cheese Lovers Trophy" and a gold in the competition.

    Other awards are a silver medal for "Cumberland Farmhouse", and two bronze medals for their "Crofton" and "Eden Valley".
  • Penrith Toffee Shop

    This world famous Toffee Shop has been producing fudge & toffee on the premises since 1910, and to this day the recipe has never been changed.

    Fudge addicts from all over the globe visit the shop because until recently, this was the only place to buy it. Lord Lichfield is quoted, as saying "Easily the best fudge in the world", and H.R.H. the Prince of Wales is an existing customer. Considering H.R.H. Prince Andrew bought some for Mothers Day, need we say more?!

    Look out for the heart symbol on our menus, which represents dishes which are simply prepared, light, balanced and tasty, reflecting our lifestyle approach. Add to this the highest standards of service - unpretentious, yet professional.

  • Saddleback foods

    Saddleback Foods & Smokerie is housed in a converted farmstead in the shadow of Blencathra - hence the name, they supply a range of products to offer fresh meat from the farm and fresh local game when in season.

  • Richard Woodall

    Nestling between the western edge of the Lakeland fells and the Irish Sea lies the sleepy backwater village of Waberthwaite. This is home to Richard Woodall, one of the oldest family businesses still in existence.

    The company, currently run by 7th and 8th generation family members, is renowned for its much acclaimed, traditionally cured hams, bacon and sausages.
